The 2025 Mount Alexander Shire Council Business Awards celebrated local businesses who support their staff, care for the environment, create opportunities for young people, champion local food, improve access for everyone, make a difference in the community, or use smart ideas to solve problems. They reflect Mount Alexander Shire Council’s commitment to building a fair, caring and sustainable local economy.
Healthy Loddon Campaspe were honoured to sponsor a new category, Local Food Excellence. The new category honours businesses helping strengthen our local food system by growing, producing, sourcing or sharing local produce.
Congratulations to Superhero, the winner of the 2025 Local Food Excellence award, which began as a pop-up in 2018 and is now a thriving business known far and wide for its Bánh Mì. With a streamlined menu, fast service and a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients, Superhero attracts locals and visitors alike. The business model reflects a deep commitment to sustainability, supporting local food systems, valuing ingredients, and proudly achieving zero food waste.
The exponential growth of Superhero has been supported by other local food businesses where the foods are sourced from including Sprout, Harvest, Sellar Dairy, Ford’s Dairy, Castlemaine Fresh, and more.
