Train the Trainer in Loddon Shire

The Train the Trainer program is helping Loddon Shire locals take the next step toward becoming qualified physical activity providers. We're covering the Certificate IV course costs for locals who want to support their community to be more active. 

Participants will receive support to build confidence and put their new skills into practice in their own communities. Once qualified, participants might run sessions such as strength training, general fitness, post-natal physical activity classes or other local activities that help people get moving close to home. 

This opportunity is open to anyone aged over 18 who is living in Loddon, passionate about health and wellbeing, committed to completing the training, and keen to share their new skills by leading or supporting activities across the Loddon Shire.

Expression of Interest - NOW OPEN

This initiative offers Loddon Shire residents the chance to gain a nationally recognised Certificate IV qualification in fitness or physical activity, at no cost for course fees.

If you are aged 18 or over, live in Loddon Shire, and are passionate about health and wellbeing, this is your opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills, and make a real impact in your community.

No prior experience is required, just enthusiasm and commitment to completing the training and supporting local activity programs.

Places are limited, so submit your Expression of Interest by Wednesday, 31 December 2025 to be considered for commencement in January/February 2026. Successful applicants will receive ongoing support throughout their training and early program delivery.

What is Train the Trainer?

Train the Trainer is a Healthy Loddon Campaspe initiative helping Loddon Shire locals gain a nationally recognised Certificate IV-level qualification in physical activity or fitness. The program aims to builds local skills, confidence, and capacity to lead community physical activity classes in the Loddon Shire.

Who can apply?

Anyone aged 18 and over who lives in Loddon Shire, is passionate about health and wellbeing, and is willing to complete the training and support local activity opportunities. 

Complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form by the Wednesday 31st December, 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps.

Do I need previous experience?

No experience is needed, just enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine interest in supporting the health of the Loddon community.

What is funded through Train the Trainer?

HLC will cover course fees for your qualification. Participants are responsible for their own travel (if applicable) and any other personal costs related to attending training or running future sessions.

What qualification will I receive?

Participants complete a Certificate IV-level qualification in fitness or a similar field, delivered through an approved training provider of their choice (in consultation with HLC). There may be opportunities to complete additional courses to provide tailored sessions in areas such as strength training, post-natal fitness classes etc.

How long does the course take?

Most Certificate IV-level courses take 6 to 12 months to finish.

Where will the course take place?

Delivery could be fully online or a mix of online and in-person learning, depending on the training provider and participants’ locations. Full details will be confirmed once participants are selected.

What can I do once I'm qualified?

Graduates may lead or support community-based sessions such as: 

- Strength and general fitness classes 

- Post-natal or seniors’ exercise groups 

- Aqua aerobics, yoga, or walking programs

 

You’ll be encouraged to help your community stay active, either through volunteer roles or paid local opportunities.

Is support available during the program?

Yes. Healthy Loddon Campaspe and Loddon Shire will support the participants during training and early program delivery.

How many places are available?

A limited number of fully funded training places are available. Selection is based on suitability, commitment and community need.
