Farmers and food producers are invited to join a farm tour showcasing agricultural practices in the Loddon Shire, while connecting and sharing ideas with fellow producers.

Tour of Bear and Twigg - Greg and Jo Bear's farm

At Bear and Twigg, Jo Bear will guide you on a tour of the farm, sharing insights into their approach to regenerative agriculture, holistic land management, and wetland conservation.

The Bears manage a flock of approximately 5,000 Merino ewes and were pioneers in carbon capital accounting as participants in the first Agriculture Stewardship Carbon + Biodiversity Pilot. In addition to their farming operations, they also host a Hipcamp site for visitors to experience their farm and natural surroundings.

This session will be facilitated by Will Sanson from Loddon Plains Landcare Network.

A free meal showcasing local produce from the Loddon Valley region will be provided.

The event will cover several key topics, including:

- Maintaining ground cover for optimal sheep and environmental outcomes.

- Low-input, low-cost holistic grazing management.

- Building healthy soil.

- Demystifying on-farm carbon projects based on firsthand experience.

- The role of wetlands in the rural ecosystem.

- Partnering with government agencies, NGOs, Traditional Owners, Landcare, and environmental professionals.

Tour of Orana Park – Tiverton Global.

A guided tour, sharing insights in olive grove management, their livestock and cropping enterprise and the biofertilizer factory.

Orana Agriculture is a large-scale regenerative farming enterprise in Fiery Flat, owned by Tiverton Global. Orana Park spans over 4,500 hectares and it showcases how productive broadacre farming can operate alongside environmental restoration. The farm produces its own organic and liquid biofertilisers on-site. It also supports the Orana Sanctuary, a 200-hectare predator-free wildlife reserve.

This session will be facilitated by Will Sanson from Loddon Plains Landcare Network.

- the organic fertiliser and biofertiliser factory 

- the use of biofertiliser on the farm

These sessions are being delivered in partnership with Loddon Shire Council, Healthy Loddon Campaspe and Loddon Plains Landcare Network.
