2025 Active Living Census launched

The 2025 Active Living Census (ALC) is now open!

Launched today in all six participating Councils, the 2025 Active Living Census is now available for Loddon Campaspe residents to complete online at go.healthyloddoncampaspe.au/alc for a four week period.

The ALC, which was conducted in Greater Bendigo in both 2014, and across the Loddon Campaspe region in 2019, is a vital regional survey that will collect important data on residents’ health, wellbeing, and lifestyle habits to guide future community planning and investment.

Healthy Loddon Campaspe, a Victorian State Government-funded initiative aimed at improving health outcomes in the region, is delivering the 2025 ALC in partnership with the six local government areas of Greater Bendigo, Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Loddon, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shires.

Covering key topics such as physical activity, nutrition, life satisfaction, and access to recreational opportunities, the ALC will provide a snapshot of how people in the Loddon Campaspe region live and what barriers they may face to staying healthy and active.

Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said she urged all residents to take part by completing the online census survey.

“The Active Living Census is a crucial tool for understanding the health and wellbeing needs of our community,” Cr Metcalf said.

“The more people who participate, the clearer the picture we get. We strongly encourage everyone, young or old, active or not, to take 15 minutes to fill it out. It’s your health, your community, your say.”

Greater Bendigo CEO Andrew Cooney said thanks to strong community involvement in the 2014 and 2019 ALC’s, the City has been able to deliver a range of projects.

“Using the information from the last census we have gained funding towards rolling out the Walk, Cycle Greater Bendigo Strategy, developments at North Bendigo and Golden Square Recreation Reserves and Ewing Park as well as upgrades to local walking paths, lighting and recreation infrastructure, and new programs that positively impact the health and wellbeing of our community,” Mr Cooney said.

Similar results have been seen across the five other participating local government areas.

The insights from this year’s ALC will be valuable in shaping our region’s future and Healthy Loddon Campaspe is calling on every household to help build a healthier region by completing the online census.

Completing the census online is easy, anonymous, and takes around 15-20 minutes.

Every response helps inform decisions that affect your daily life – from improving bike paths, playgrounds and facilities, to increasing access to healthy food and ways to be physically active.

Everyone who completes the census online will have the chance to be in the draw to win their share of $10,000 in prizes in the early bird and weekly prize draws.
