1. Banyule State Forest Walk, Echuca
Located along the Murray River, this picturesque 6km return trail starts at the Echuca Visitor Information Centre. Wander through the enchanting Banyule Forest, surrounded by majestic gums. Follow the trail along the Murray River, cross the footbridge over the canal, and meander back to the town centre through Pakenham Street. Don't forget to explore the historic Echuca Moama bridge along the way.

2. Goldfields Reservoir, Maryborough
Situated on Reservoir Road, Maryborough, this serene 1.7km trail encircles the stunning Goldfields Reservoir. Once a water source for the town, it now offers a peaceful atmosphere for walking, picnicking, fishing and even swimming. Don't miss the opportunity to get involved in Adventure Bingo with your kids as you enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

3. Lake Weeroona, Bendigo
Located on Napier Street, Bendigo, Lake Weeroona serves as a popular destination for walking, running, and cycling. Take in the views as you stroll around the 1.5km lake perimeter. Begin your walk from any side of the lake, and don't forget to visit the newly revamped kids' playground and indulge in a well-deserved stop at the Boardwalk Café.
Start from: Wherever you like! All sides of the lake are accessible via car parks and paths.

4. Melville Caves, Kooyoora State Park
Located on Melville Caves Road, Brenanah, the Melville Caves within Kooyoora State Park offer a captivating experience. Embark on the approximate 1km trail and explore the caves once used as a hideout by the infamous bushranger, Captain Melville. Enjoy the panoramic views from the scenic lookout, encounter native wildlife, and make use of the barbeque facilities for a delightful picnic.

Trail type: Mostly steep terrain with various flatter walking paths at beginning and end of trail.

5. Campaspe River Walk and Town Circuit, Kyneton
Immerse yourself in the charm of Kyneton as you traverse this 3.8km circuit. Start from St Agnes Place, admire the autumn colours, and keep an eye out for platypus sightings in the Campaspe River. This walk encompasses the 160-year-old Kyneton Botanic Gardens, offering lush canopies, sweeping lawns, and a magnificent picnic spot. The historical markings and wooden bridges along the river add to the enchantment. Take the kids and complete Adventure Bingo along the way!
Start from: Exercise equipment at St Agnes Place and continue down towards the Kyneton Botanical gardens.
Trail length: 3.8km approx.
Trail type: A combination of gravel, hard surfaces and timber walkways. They are suitable for walking or riding.

6. Black Hill Reserve, Kyneton
Situated at 110 Blackhill School Rd, Kyneton, Black Hill Reserve spans across 260 acres of rare bushland. Choose between the gentle 3.9km Circuit Track or the more challenging 2.7km Ridge Track. Marvel at the granite rock formations, including the impressive Monolith, and encounter a variety of wildlife, from birds to wallabies. Don't forget to take a break at the picnic tables near the Monolith for a well-deserved rest.
Start from: Black Hill Reserve car park. The entrance to the car park is off Ennis Road.

7. Pink Cliffs Reserve, Heathcote

8. The Cascades, Metcalfe
The Cascades in Metcalfe offers an opportunity to go on an adventure and explore! Follow the riverside and explore the rocks as you admire the cascades of the Coliban River. This hidden gem provides a sense of tranquility and showcases the mesmerizing power of nature.
Start from: Car park at the end of Cascades Road, Metcalfe
Trail length: No real trail at this location, but lots of exploring to be done along the riverside and over the rocks.
Trail type: There’s a steep dirt trail from the car park, and then a few scratchy tracks alongside the water. Then it’s a free for all of exploring!

9. Little Lake Boort
Discover the "Northern Oasis" in Boort. The 3.7km loop trail around Little Lake Boort allows people of all levels to enjoy the native flora and fauna. Spot various bird species, observe the wildlife of the lake from the boardwalk, and take a moment to appreciate the town's rich indigenous history with well-preserved middens and scar trees. Have some fun with the kids and complete Adventure Bingo together along the way!
